Meet the Founder
Hello, my name is Teena! I am an artist, entrepreneur, food addict, and a cat lover. Ever since I was a child I have always had an interest and a passion for art. My favorite pastime would be drawing cartoon characters and cute animals. My interest for art came from anime and growing up as half Japanese, I was heavily influenced by Japan's kawaii culture.
I started a small business back in 2015 with the hopes of selling my artwork to people who have similar interests as me. I have always wanted to earn a living doing what I loved most and so Kawaii Flavor was born. At first I was selling anime charms handmade with polymer clay, but eventually I started branching out and selling stickers with designs drawn by me. Now my shop primarily carries Kawaii Flavor stationery items in addition to being a gifting company where I would like to showcase other small businesses along the way.
Why a Gifting Company?
I was inspired to start offering a gifting service after my experience with putting together a gift box for a dear friend. It was quite tedious because I would have to order items from different websites and the items would all arrive at different times. Some items would take several weeks to arrive. I also went into physical stores looking for items that I wanted to gift to my friend and sometimes I'd have no luck finding anything good. Not only that, but the hassle of going to the post office and getting a shipping box, returning home to package it all together, and then going back to the post office to drop it off took up a lot of my time. With my gifting service, you can do all your shopping in one and you don't have to worry about the physical labor. Some of my favorite gifts to buy were from small businesses on Etsy because each item was unique and made with love. I want to continue that habit of supporting small businesses by being a retailer of their goods and helping them gain the recognition that they deserve.
Kawaii Flavor's mission is to provide cuteness, convenience, affordability, and availability.
What Does "Kawaii Flavor" Mean?
The Japanese word for "kawaii" translates to cute. This culture represents feminine colors like pink and purple, and refers to items or people as adorable, lovable, and even childlike. The word "flavor" in "Kawaii Flavor" stems from my love for sweets. I just love when a dessert or a candy comes in various flavors. It always made me happy and allows more people to enjoy it together. My goal for this brand is to offer a variety of "flavors" whether it's the type of goods available or the small businesses that I am able to showcase and support. When you visit my shop, you will see that there is something for everyone to enjoy!
The Future of Kawaii Flavor
There are so many talented artists and small business owners in our community. My goal is to be able to support them by retailing their handcrafted items alongside my own. Without you, all of this would not be possible because with each purchase, it helps Kawaii Flavor closer to that goal. Not only are you supporting my small business, but you are supporting many others as well. I believe that gifting someone an item that was made by a small business owner just makes the experience all the more worthwhile.
Thank you for stopping by and happy shopping! <3
